Agave Uptown Offers a Multi-Mezcal Tasting

Samples will be paired with Oaxacan small bites.

Oakland's Agave Uptown restaurant is hosting a multi-brand mezcal tasting on July 3.

Tickets are $45 and can be purchased here. They can also be purchased at the door on a space-available basis.

At the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., small Oaxacan bites designed by Agave Uptown's executive chef and owner Octavio Diaz will be offered alongside mezcals from such distilleries as Armadillo Negro, Benesin, Cuish, Cuixe, Curados Morales, Curados Son Pedro, Don Amado, Don Amado, Don Mateo, La Luna, Los Javis, Mestizo, Nacional, Neta, Santalla, Silencio, and Tres Tiempos.

Diaz grew up near Oaxaca in Santa Gertrudis, Mexico. After earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management, then working at such establishments as the Sonoma Wine Country Hilton and Petaluma Sheraton, he opened Agave Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar in Healdsburg in 2010. Its popularity, and his emphasis on local sourcing and handcrafted fare, encouraged him to open Agave Uptown in Oakland's Kapor Center for Social Impact.
