Alameda's East End Restaurant Included in Carolyn Jung's New Book
The Park Street restaurant joins other East Bay faves such as Chop Bar, Nido, and Tay Ho.

Due out this September, East Bay Cooks: Signature Recipes from the Best Restaurants, Bars, and Bakeries celebrates eighty signature dishes from forty kitchens spanning a region which, Jung writes, has "given the world Gertrude Stein, Jack London, Tower of Power, the Pointer Sisters, Tupac Shakur, MC Hammer, Tom Hanks, Bruce Lee, Ryan Coogler, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson" ... and much else, including Tesla, Pixar, and California Cuisine.
Featured in the book are such culinary adventures as black-rice porridge, smoked-trout salad, Brussels-sprout hash, eggplant shakshuka, txakolina sorbet, aloo gobi tacos, and more — from such restaurants as Shakewell, À Coté, Tay Ho, Nido, Oaktown Spice Shop, Duende, The Local Butcher Shop, Wood Tavern, and more ... including East End, whose new American favorites include chef/founder Paul Manousos' thin-crusted, wood-fired pizzas crowned with such toppings as shaved fennel, goat gouda, bacon, kale, hand-pulled fresh mozzarella, and hen-o'-the-woods mushrooms.
A San Francisco native and longtime San Jose Mercury News editor, Jung has also written for San Francisco Magazine, Coastal Living, Via, Every Day with Rachael Ray, and many other publications. East Bay Cooks will be her second book.
