Organizers say it’s better and bigger than ever this year with more than 500 artisans and artists.

Celebrate the visual arts at the Fremont Festival of Arts. The festival has been running for 36 years and this year promises a bigger bash than ever: Over 500 artists and artisans will set up booths to show off their wares, including paintings, jewelry, clothing, and more, and making this among the biggest art fairs in the western United States.

When you’re tired of browsing for art, you can find sustenance at the festival’s Gourmet Marketplace, where artists in a different medium have everything that you need for a top-quality meal: secret sauces, exotic spices, and carefully guarded family recipes that can all be yours for the right price. The festival will also attract a fleet of popular food trucks, serving hot fair favorites like funnel cakes and Philly cheese steaks.

Entertainment comes courtesy of face painters, henna tattoos, balloon artists, and more, and kids can get their wiggles out on the carnival rides at the fair’s Kid City section. Savvy deal-shoppers can head to the Business Marketplace, where local businesses offer special deals and door prizes. Sat.-Sun., Aug. 3-4, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., free, Paseo Padre Parkway and Walnut Avenue, Fremont, FremontFestival.net.
