Backlash Against the Cinema Grill and Cinexplex

Published:

It’s very sad that the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex feels the need to be a “movie bar” [“Dinner and a Movie, Together,” April]. This removes it from the “family” venue it is supposed to be. Whoever made this decision isn’t the smartest manager and whomever approved of it should be replaced. NOW IT’S JUST ANOTHER SLEAZY BAR THAT SHOWS MOVIES.

Kickin’ Kid

Kin and the Fireside Rock!!! [“The Kid Curry Rides Into the Fireside Lounge,” April] Fireside not only sports a phenomenal spirit, draft and bottle beer selection and great bands, but also supports local art and artists.

Nice, But Not New

Nice little write-up on the North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto [“Gourmet Ghetto Fabulous,” March], but Celtic Inheritance opened in 1997!

Corrections

There were two errors in “A Ghostly Tale From a Dream” [April] about Erika Mailman’s new book in which she is writing as Lynn Carthage. The name of the book is Haunted: The Arnaud Legacy. Additionally, the Richard Spees referenced is the son of the former Oakland city councilman. In “Total Strangers” [April], our article about the Oakland Atheletics, second baseman Eric Sogard was misidentified as utility infielder Ben Zobrist. Our December gift guide listed a wrong website for Gorgeous and Green; the correct one is: www.GGBoutique.com.
