Barcelona Hotspot, Soon to Open in Walnut Creek, Stages Pop-up at Calavera

Spain's trendy Telefèric restaurants are about to get a new American sister ... in Walnut Creek.
In preparation for the planned mid-December opening, Telefèric chefs have been hanging out with Calavera's executive chef Christian Irabien -- and, together, they're all throwing a Spanish Sunday Supper as a menu preview on December 6.
An official announcement reads:
"The Telefèric chef team of Oscar Cabezas, Rodrigo Vazquez (recently relocated from Spain) and Patricio Dufoo (formerly Executive Sous Chef at Coqueta), along with Calavera chef Christian Irabien, will offer a menu of authentic Spanish pintxos (two-bite snacks that are typical in Northern Spain) and tapas that incorporate Basque flavors and Mediterranean cooking techniques. Cocktails were created by the Dos Ojos team of Joseph Cleveland, Ashley Campos and Michael Iglesias, who will be consulting on the bar program at Telefèric."
Served at Calavera in Oakland at 5:30 p.m. next Sunday evening, the meal will include these dishes and drinks:
La Tuna: tuna tataki, soya infusion, "wasamole" sauce
Ma Première Foie: duck liver mousse, caramelized onion, cherry jam, roasted apple
El Torito: Txistorra sausage, honey, Idiazabal
La Rusa: Spanish potato and tuna salad, piquillo pepper mousse, grated egg
Va Calao: codfish brandade, Spanish sofrito, allioli sauce
Jamón Iberico de Bellota: acorn-fed three-year 5J Iberian ham, pan crystal bread, tomatoes in Spanish olive oil
Croquetas de Setas: Local wild mushroom-cabrales cheese croquettes
Gambas al Ajillo: garlic tiger prawns Telefèric style, chile viscaine sauce, brandy reduction
Pulpo Telefèric: Wood grilled Spanish octopus, truffled Parmentier crema
HAMburguesa: Jamón Ibérico burger, allioli sauce, Idiazabal cheese, crispy ham
Crema Catalana: traditional recipe with cinnamon & lemon aromatics
Spanish Merchant Gin Tonic: Ophir gin, East Imperial tonic, juniper, orange, pimento, nasturtium flower
Sangria Telefèric: red wine, Oloroso sherry, ginger, citrus, berries, apple, chamomile, cinnamon, soda, sangria gelée
The Alchemist: vodka, Lillet, honey, lemon, orange bitters, gold, blood orange ice sphere
Rebujito Porron: manzanilla, lemon, cinnamon, Catalan party pitcher
Mojito Le Fee Vert: rum, lime, mint, lime fairy floss
