Set for this Sunday, Oct. 27, the Berkeley City Club's annual Chocolate and Coffee Faire will celebrate local artisan chocolatiers and coffee roasters as well as this 1929 Moorish/Gothic-esque Julia Morgan-designed architectural landmark itself. During a full day of talks, live music, and other experiences, dozens of artisans will be on hand to chat with attendees while selling and sampling their wares.

Among the makers slated to participate are Nomadic Coffee and Bay Area CoRoasters, both of Berkeley, along with Oakland's Sweet Maria's Coffee and Barlovento Chocolate, Albany's The Confectionist, and San Francisco outfits 9th and Larkin Chocolates, Jade Chocolates, and Michael's Chocolates. Others include Napa's Quail Point Chocolates, Honolulu's Lonohana Estate Chocolate, and more.

Performers at the faire include cellist Judy Norton, pianist Miles Brockbank, bagpiper Claudia Falconer, the Walnut Creek Aquanauts synchro-swimmers, and the Loving Harmony vocal-jazz trio, among others.

The day will start at 11 a.m. with a performance by Kyle Davy on jazz piano and the arrival of Julia Morgan impersonator Betty Marvin.

Special experiences include a silent auction, a raffle, a lecture by Olympic swimmer Barbara Stark Jordan about the history of the Berkeley City Club's famous pool, and much more — including a demonstration by Alice Medrich, hailed as the "first lady of chocolate truffles."

Raffle prizes include a swim in the Neptune Pool at Southern California's Hearst Castle.

Tickets are available here. This event will inaugurate a ten-year, $10 million fundraising effort, led by the Berkeley City Club Conservancy, a non-profit 501(c)3, to preserve the landmark Julia Morgan Berkeley City Club building and to celebrate its centennial in 2030.
