Berkeley-based filmmaker and Academy Award nominee Jason Cohen will present his latest production during this year's SF Documentary Film Festival.
Now in its fifteenth year, the festival runs from June 2 through June 16 at the Roxie Theatre, Vogue Theater and Great Star Theater, all of which are in San Francisco.
Cohen was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary (Short Subject) category in 2013 for his film Facing Fear, about the aftermath of a hate crime.
Screening on the festival's closing night, June 16, Cohen's new film Silicon Cowboys explores the rise and fall of Compaq computers. Cohen and several individuals who appear in his film will be on hand for this West Coast premiere of the film.
Also featured during the festival are documentaries about Bay Area surfing, space travel, webcam sex workers, Ken Kesey, seed-saving, abortions, Dungeons and Dragons, time machines, gender issues and much more.
