Cocktails of the Farmers Market is coming to Oakland at long last.
The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA) and the United States Bartenders Guild have jointly held several such events -- featuring drinks and bites made from peak-season farmers'-market produce -- at San Francisco's Ferry Building.
The first-ever East Bay event, dubbed Party Under the Palms, is set for Wednesday, August 2 in Jack London Square -- where a sparkling array of East Bay bartenders and chefs will serve food and drinks made with sustainable produce from the Jack London Square Farmers Market.
Participating bartenders include Pilar Vree and Matt Harrison of Penrose; Jared Hirsch of Sidebar; Samuel Jimenez of Blind Tiger; Watson Henderson of Le Cheval; Douglas Bedford of The Double Standard; Tabatha Vonmohn, Jessica Maria, and Ava Anderson of the Hotsy Totsy Club; Rick Dobbs and Jesse Peterson of The Last Word; Julie Anna Figueras of The Miranda; Kat Bushnell of Starline Social Club; Sherry Legend and Tinamarie Brackett of Fort Green; Tamir Ben Shalom and Deedee Barton of Bull Valley Roadhouse; and Daniel Sheer and Robbie Conroy of Tupper & Reed and East Bay Spice Company.
Presenting spirits include Don Julio, Don Q, and Ketel One.
Tasting spirits include Arkansas Black, Back Bar Project, Black Cow Vodka, Corbin Cash, Cutwater Spirits, Do Good Distillery, Lo Fi Aperitifs, Spiritworks Distillery, and St. George Spirits.
Bites will be provided by Belcampo, Blind Tiger, Bull Valley Roadhouse, Le Cheval, Shades of Sugar Bakeshop, Starline Social Club, El Patio, and Venga Paella.
This is a 21-and-over-only event. Tickets (which can be purchased here) range from $45 to $55. Funds raised will support CUESA's and USBG's education programs.
