On its first anniversary, Oakland's Copper Spoon restaurant has announced the opening of its Golden State Lounge.
The new lounge serves bar bites and a 4 p.m.-to-6 p.m. happy hour with food and drink specials. Every Thursday will be "Dealer's Choice."
It will also host ongoing performances and special events.
Dinner continues to be served in Copper Spoon's main dining room, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The bar-bites menu includes, among other items, salmon hand roll; mussels and gulf shrimp; and roasted cauliflower with fermented hot sauce.
Happy Hour offerings include a daily house-infused libation ($6); Oakland-brewed beers Aokelan Lager and Line 51 IPA ($5); house red and white wines ($5); well shots ($5); and a grilled-cheese sandwich with rosemary butter ($6).
Front-of-the-house responsibilities at Copper Spoon are overseen by owner/partners Vita Simone and Carmen Anderson, who together operated the Sassafras Seagrass food truck.
Award-winning longtime mixologist Simone has worked with such industry luminaries such as Brian Felley of Benjamin Cooper, Alexis Filipello of Dogwood, and Jon Santar of Prizefighter. With degrees from UC Berkeley in physics and astrophysics, Anderson has applied her talent for analyzing complex situations to the restaurant industry and has also done organic farming in Mexico.
