After longtime Temescal favorite Doña Tomás closed last month, owner Dona Savitsky opened her new restaurant, Doña, on Piedmont Avenue this month.
"I am so touched by the loyalty of our Doña Tomás customers, who have been telling all of their friends about our new venture and were here on our first few days of business," Savitsky said.
With lush plants and natural light enhancing its rustic, Guadalajara-in-the-1970s design, the new space measures an impressive 4,300 square feet and seats ninety inside, along with thirty more on a patio.
Its menu spotlights chilaquiles, sopa de lima, fresh pastries baked in-house, and beloved standbys including six different types of taco. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday. Lunch and dinner are served daily. Weekend brunch service will begin next month.
"Opening Doña is especially exciting for me, as I am bringing along staff from Doña Tomás, including longtime friend and Doña Tomás manager Andee Brown, who will have a stake in the business," Savitsky said.
"I also love the fact that we'll be open all day, with continuous counter service. It makes it so easy to stop in and grab food to go or enjoy your meal tableside in our charming space."
