Drake's Is Having a Birthday Party
The San Leandro brewery is marking 28 years with The Void, a 17.5 percent stout.
Drake's Brewing Co. will celebrate its 28th birthday at its San Leandro brewery this Saturday, August 26.
Marking this celebration is the first-ever bottle release of The Void: Aged for nearly eighteen months in High West Bourbon barrels, this 17.5 percent Intergalactic Stout is one of the biggest barrel-aged beers that Drake's has ever released.
Having debuted earlier this year during San Francisco Beer Week, The Void was originally brewed as a 12 percent Imperial Stout, then made stronger with multiple additions of dark Belgian Candi sugar. At the party, which is set for 5 p.m. through 9 p.m. this Saturday at Drake's Brewing Co. headquarters, each customer will be able to purchase up to four bottles, but no more.
The party will also feature more than 25 Drake's brews as well as live music, food trucks, chill stations, and "mammoth-sized" games. An Alumni Booth will feature guest brews from many brewers who have worked at Drake's over the years, along with rare releases from the brewery's specialty and barrel-aging program, the OAK Project.
Entry is free, but tasting tickets are required to sample the beers.
Bike valet will be available courtesy of Bike East Bay, and free shuttles will run between Drake's and San Leandro BART.
