East Bay cidermakers will be prominently featured at the fifth annual Cider Summit SF.

Set for Saturday, April 14 at the Civil War Parade Ground in San Francisco's Presidio, the event will feature nearly 200 ciders from around the world — including many of your local faves.

Among many other producers from as far afield as Croatia and Spain, Oakland-based Crooked City Cider will be presenting its Ginger Bomb; Can't Stop, Won't Stop, and Hella Hip Hopped. Richmond's The Far West Cider Co. will present its Proper Dry, Orchard Blend, OB Amarillo, and You're Guava Be Kidding Me. San Leandro's Hidden Star Orchards will present its Gold Rush, Gravenstein, and Granny Smith. Walnut Creek's Pacific Coast Cider will present its Raw Apple, Apple Mango Muscat, and Apple Tart Cherry.

New this year, Oregon Fruit Products and Enartis have created the Fruit & Oak Cider Challenge in which participating cideries will craft a special cider using OFP fruit purée and Enartis oak.  Attendees will be able to vote for their favorites by text during the summit.

Food vendors will be on hand , and Whole Foods Market will also host a cider and food-pairing pavilion featuring local cidermakers and food purveyors. A “Dog Lounge” will be hosted by Berkeley Humane & Wag Hotels.

Cider Summit is also collaborating with Washington State-based Tieton Cider Works on a special release cider. To celebrate its ten-year anniversary, the company will present at the summit a unique oak-barrel-aged cider made with a select blend of cider apples and featuring notes of nutmeg, orange peel, allspice, and cloves.

Tickets range from $35 to $45 and can be purchased here. (Accompanied minors will be admitted at no charge.) A percentage of ticket sales will support charities including The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research, and Berkeley Humane. You can also follow Cider Summit on Facebook.
