Emeryville's Hot Italian Pizza & Panini Bar closed last week.

The Hot Italian group also closed its last remaining location — which was in Sacramento — on the same day: Sunday, Dec. 29.

As reported by the Sacramento Bee, Hot Italian was founded in Sacramento in 2009 by Andrea Lepore and Fabrizio Cercatore, who specialized in thin-crusted pizza. The Emeryville location opened on Shellmound Street in 2012, then a Davis location opened in 2016.

But changes in management led to strife within the group. As reported by the Bee, a company insider "blamed Lepore’s mismanagement and misappropriation of funds for Hot Italian’s failure," adding that "all Hot Italian investors had lost money on the restaurant."

Hot Italian's Davis location closed last year.
