Grocery Outlet Gets a New CEO
Headquartered in Emeryville, the supermarket group also has a new vice chairman.

Emeryville-based Grocery Outlet Bargain Market has just announced a new CEO and vice chairman.
Having started working for Grocery Outlet in 1996, Eric Lindberg began in operations before advancing through positions in retail marketing and other divisions of the national discount-supermarket group.
Originally named Cannery Sales, Grocery Outlet was founded in San Francisco in 1946, then remamed Canned Foods in in 1970. It was renamed Grocery Outlet in 1987. Today the group operates over 300 stores in six states.
“I am excited to lead Grocery Outlet into the future and develop new opportunities for growth,” Lindberg said in a press release. “Grocery Outlet has a 68-year history of bringing extreme value to customers and building trusted partnerships with suppliers, and I look forward to building on our momentum and delivering value for our customers.”
The group's new vice chairman in MacGregor Read, who also started working for the company in 1996.
“Our sourcing strategy and relationships with our suppliers are key business differentiators about which I am passionate,” Read said. “I am looking forward to focusing on strengthening and building new supplier opportunities and relationships to continue to bring extreme value to our customers and support our growth.”
