Alameda-based Hangar 1, Berkeley-based Trumer Pils, and Oakland-based Mr. Espresso are among the sponsors of this year's Eat Drink SF.

Set for August 24 through 27 at San Francisco's Fort Mason Center, the annual food festival -- now in its ninth year and formerly known as SF Chefs -- brings together the Bay Area's culinary community for stunningly panoramic tastings, contests, meet-and-greets, and more. The Bay Area being the Bay Area, this is where avocado-uni toast and kimchi egg salad meet beef-marrow burgers and Cocoa Puff negronis.

This year's fest will feature over 160 restaurants and over seventy breweries, wineries, and distilleries. At four different Grand Tastings throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy unlimited food and drink samples -- including cocktails -- from dozens of booths. Each Grand Tasting features a different set of booths, and each features live demonstrations, games, and chances to talk with chefs, artisans, and other insiders.

Launching this year's Eat Drink SF will be the third annual Taco Knockdown. Set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24 at The Pearl in San Francisco, this fold-fest will find a dozen-plus chefs facing off, fashioning their own versions of the Mexican classic. Last year's People's Choice winner was a smoked-brisket "taco" wrapped in a wonton shell, presented by San Francisco's Palm House restaurant.
