Jamba Juice — which was founded in Emeryville — is being acquired by Focus Brands in a deal valued at about $200 million.

Founded in 1990, Jamba Inc. began as a fast-casual whole-fruit smoothie group.

Now boasting over 800 locations worldwide — including several in Oakland — Jamba Inc. is known today as a retailer of smoothies, juices, cold-pressed shots, snacks, and meal replacements.

Atlanta-based Focus Brands Inc. is a major developer of worldwide multi-channel food-service brands with over 5,000 restaurants, bakeries, and shops throughout the US and in over fifty other countries, operating under such brand names as Carvel, Cinnabon, Seattle's Best Coffee, and many more.

“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Focus Brands and are confident that it will result in a positive outcome for our guests, our franchisees, and our employees,” said Jamba CEO Dave Pace in a statement following the recent announcement of the merger.

“Over the last few years, we have worked hard to strengthen our foundation and reposition this iconic brand for the future. Partnering with Focus Brands will allow us to build on this work and further accelerate the company’s growth," Pace said.
