Market Hall Foods Releases High Holidays Menu

New this year is a celery root/apple/carrot rémoulade.

Market Hall Foods and Market Hall Bakery in Oakland and Berkeley have just released their High Holidays menus.

Created by executive chef Scott Miller, the Rosh Hashanah menu will be available Sept. 27 through Oct. 1. The Yom Kippur menu will be available Oct. 7 through Oct. 9.

Special dishes available for both holidays include real-schmaltz matzoh-ball soup; pineapple-sweetened noodle kugel made with a double dose of sour cream; ginger-spiked tzimmes; lemon-zesty smoked-samon spread; apple strudel; rugelach; and many more — including, for the first time ever, celery root/apple/carrot rémoulade.

Rosh Hashanah-only items include chicken braised in pomegranate molasses and tamarind with pimentón; salmon skewers with za'atar yogurt sauce; and chicory salad with apples, blue cheese, pomegranate, Moscatel vinaigrette, and walnuts.

Yom Kippur-only items include bay-scented chicken with figs and olives; grilled salmon with sauce verte; and chicory salad with golden beets, goat cheese, citrus-sherry vinaigrette, and walnuts.
