Nominations are now open for the 9th annual Oakland Indie Awards, honoring socially, economically and environmentally conscientious businesses in our area.
Presented by Beneficial State Bank and Foundation, the competition culminates in a celebration featuring live music and locally made food and drinks on May 29 at Jack London Square's Market Building.
Nominees are sought in seven different categories: Oakland Soul, Ripple Effect, Innovative Newcomer, Greenie, Social Changemaker, Pillar, and Job Creator. Nominations are open until March 31.
Previous year's winners include Impact HUB Oakland, Revolution Foods, Kev Choice and Sungevity.
"The Oakland Indie Awards is a chance for all of us to appreciate the amazing creativity and activism displayed by Oakland’s entrepreneurs,” said Beneficial State’s chief impact officer Erin Kilmer-Neel, founder of the Oakland Indie Awards.
