It's now easier than ever to explore and enjoy the Oakland Ale Trail and Oakland Urban Wine Trail with digital passports, made possible by a partnership btween Visit Oakland and the destination-experience engine Bandwago.

These digital passports help users discover new venues, check into locations, and redeem discounts from participating wineries and breweries via their phones. No app-store downloading or printed passports are required, as users can access the digital passports by opening the bookmarked web app in their Internet browsers.

“Launching the digital passports for the Ale Trail and the Urban Wine Trail ensures that visitors will get the most out of their experience," said Visit Oakland president and CEO Mark Everton.

"This will also facilitate exploration of Oakland’s many neighborhoods in which our breweries and wineries are located," Everton said.

The ale and wine trails include eight wineries and twelve breweries — ranging from a winery along Oakland’s waterfront to a brewery inside a former car-dealership space. Urban Wine Trail web app users can also redeem exclusive Oakland Urban Wine Trail wine-and-cheese totes after they check in and purchase a bottle of wine or something of greater value from all wineries. Ale Trail web app users can receive Oakland Ale Trail growlers after checking in and making any purchase from all the included breweries.

"We are thrilled to partner with Bandwango, to make the trails easier than ever to access and provide a helpful resource for visitors and locals alike," Everton said.
