Fifty-plus bars and restaurants will offer unique drinks, events, and other special surprises for the second annual Oakland Cocktail Week, set for Sept. 20 - 29.
These venues include Fruitvale's Aloha Club; Uptown's Duende, Drexl, Spice Monkey, and Calavera; Rockridge's Golden Squirrel Pub and Oliveto; Temescal's Burma Superstar, Copper Spoon, and North Light; Montclair's Perle and Italian Colors; Old Oakland's Fort Green and Oeste, and many more.
Events are planned throughout the week, starting with a kickoff party featuring live music by Collectivity and performances by Pamela Parker's Fantastic Machine and Emcee UnLearn the World on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 19 in downtown Oakland's Latham Square.
A $7 Town Cocktail Passport showcases particpating bars and offers over $50 worth of drink deals along with opportunities to win prizes. Passport-holders can present their passports at participating venues and events to collect stamps, which will later enable them to enter a raffle.
"Oakland's mix of neighborhoods really give Oakland its magic," said Oakland Cocktail Week organizer Raquel Navarro. "The Town Cocktail Passport celebrates that, and gives locals and visitors a guide to explore these areas through their neighborhood watering holes.
"Every neighborhood has its own unique vibe, and the bars and restaurants definitely reflect that," Navarro said.
A portion of the proceeds from Oakland Cocktail Week will benefit the Oakland Indie Alliance, a nonprofit through which hundreds of local entrepreneurs cooperate to preserve the city's variety, energy, and sense of community.
Partners helping to make Oakland Cocktail Week possible include Visit Oakland, Moet Hennessy, Yelp, The Port Workspaces, Oakland Central, and Amaro Montenegro.
