The small San Francisco chain, named after the Alameda owners’ pug, offers high-quality New York–style pizza. These pies boast thin, hand-tossed, cornmeal crusts with a multitude of fresh vegetable and meat choices. Bowzer’s delivers (literally and figuratively). Look for canine-inspired names, such as the Good Boy, the Bad Boy, the Unleashed, the Underdog and the popular Bark, a vegetarian pie with a zesty white garlic sauce, spinach, mushrooms and roasted garlic.
