Oakland, CA 510-834-7684 The small but select menu changes often at the downtown Oakland branch of the Berkeley-bred fave, though a few vegetarian dishes, tandoori prawns, tandoori salmon and chicken tikka masala are always in the rotation, as are variations of naan and paranthas. The Bengal begoon, an eggplant specialty, and Coorgi pork roast, a rack of marinated and barbecued spare ribs, tempted, but the sizzle of the tandoori salmon was more alluring. Steaming fillets, gently charred for added umph, were plated atop cabbage and onions, all nice companions for the accompanying daal, a salad of mixed greens with mint chutney and basmati rice.
