This friendly restaurant, where retirees in baseball caps are on a first-name basis with their servers at lunch, touts “quality food at affordable prices” and offers some of the best bargains around, including the hefty French dip and Reuben sandwiches. The menu abounds with choices, from grilled calf’s liver and chicken fried steak to coconut shrimp, ribs and many varieties of burgers and steaks. Breakfast specials are quite the steal, and the upside down apple walnut pie has a faithful following, as does the Buttercup itself for its reliability, club-like setting and convenience.
