This “gourmet ghetto” landmark put small plates on the local map in 1998 and remains at the forefront with such signature dishes from chef Maggie Pond as salt cod and potato cazuela, spanish anchovies, spicy tuna and egg bocadillo, peerless fried potatoes (with herbs and sea salt) and an exemplary croque señor. The book-form wine and spirits lists also raised the bar, especially for a casual spot with a comfy rustic atmosphere. Open daily noon to midnight.
