This is a nice enough coffeehouse, where classical music (or live music on some nights) flows while people chat, play games or catch up on the newspaper. There’s a train theme throughout with big clocks, a blackboard menu behind the counter to mimic a departure/arrival board and info and images posted about the High Street Station train history. A couple of flat-screen TVs and two pianos — don’t think about tickling those ivories unless you are “practiced” — round out the décor; there are big communal tables and smaller tables and over-stuffed chairs throughout the big space to accommodate varying patron needs. Peerless coffee is served, and it’s great stuff. Some menu items have names reflective of the Island, which is a little fun. The toasted Havarti sandwich came smeared with avocado spread and just the right amount of cukes and tomato. A nice enough little lunch. Open daily.
