L’Amyx Tea Bar gets transformed into an upscale(ish), family-style neighborhood restaurant with a Chinese-fusion-y take on Marcia Lam and family’s favorite recipes. Organic, sustainable and local ingredients make their way into many dishes, enhancing flavors in a delightful way. We went for the corn and crab soup, three treasures (Yukon gold potatoes, eggplant and zucchini) and wrinkled beans (green beans, hot pepper and garlic) and found all to our liking. There’s a nod toward American palates with an array of fried offerings, sweet-and-spicy sauces, candied walnuts and luscious glazes, but Lin Jia presents a healthy dose of steamed, stir-fried and well-seasoned dishes and authentic family favorites to balance out the choices. Hakka spring rolls and a delicious dumpling soup come highly recommended by Lam, as does the lunchtime Hunan Hottie of Changsha beef, lettuce and mayo on a baguette. Half off a bottle of wine on Wednesdays, yay. Serves lunch and dinner daily.
