This strikingly handsome addition to the thriving Rockridge restaurant scene feels like a cozy men’s club that suddenly opened its membership to all. Owner Gary Rizzo, whose Miss Millie’s was a breakfast fixture in San Francisco’s upper–Noe Valley for 10 years, crafts wide-ranging variations on American comfort food, notably triumphant with such starters as the goat cheese pudding soufflé atop a salad of mixed greens and sliced apples, fried ruby tomatoes and a butter lettuce salad tossed with prosciutto, Point Reyes blue cheese, cherry tomatoes, chopped egg and red onion. Fried chicken is an instant favorite among main courses that include roasted duck breast and grilled wild salmon. The dessert list may boast few surprises, but top off your meal with one of the rich, chocolately coffee drinks called borgias. Lunch and dinner daily.
