Theresa Lee is not only a poet with the written word, but she is also a poet with the plate. Her restaurant, where the name means “King’s Meal,” serves traditional dishes that originated in the temples of Korea. Everything is made fresh, and dishes are given vibrant colors using berries and other fruit, nothing artificial. Bumbling Americans can appreciate the laminated “translation mats” for some simple communication suggestions like “ice water” and “not spicy.” But first-timers will not go wrong by flipping straight to menu items like haemul pajeon (seafood onion pancake), galbi (short ribs) or bulgogi (thin marinated beef). Vegetarians will also enjoy a wide selection of dishes like bibimbap (assorted seasoned vegetables and egg over rice). Yeats may have strung a few good lines together, but there’s no way he ever made a meal this good! Serves lunch and dinner daily.
