The classic 1884 Victorian building that houses The Fat Lady is rich in history and even richer in great cuisine. The family-owned restaurant opened in 1970 and is chock full of collectibles and Tiffany lamps as well as helpful staff ready to give a history lesson or just run down the specials. Appetizers include a French fried zucchini dish that food critic Narsai David claims is, “the best I’ve ever had.” Lunch and dinner options include steak, seafood, pasta and salad, but brunch is the real showstopper and is always well attended. Brunch favorites include cheese blintzes, steak and eggs, large omelets and four kinds of eggs Benedict, all great when paired with a mimosa from the bar. Lunch and intermezzo Mon.–Fri., dinner Mon.–Sat. and weekend brunch.
