You’ll be hard pressed to get into this Solano Avenue eatery without a wait on weekends—but it’s worth braving the brunch line. Both the cafe interior and the wait staff are casual and friendly, creating an experience that’s a lot like eating in your own kitchen. Outside dining is also available, allowing customers to soak in the Solano Avenue scene and a few rays on a sunny day. Pooches are permitted at the outdoor tables, and the waiters have been known to bring out water bowls for their canine patrons. Everything from the salad dressing to the muffins is prepared in the Sunny Side kitchen, and the food couldn’t taste fresher. For brunch, we love the sausage and spinach scramble, made with Niman Ranch meat (a vegetarian substitute is also available) and sautéed red onions. Served up with your choice of garlic-roasted tomatoes, veggie black beans or home-fries topped with sour cream, it’s a great way to start your day. Breakfast and lunch daily.
