The crowds that fill Vik's Chaat House certainly aren't there for the ambience; it's the delicious bargain-priced dishes that have made this Indian eatery so popular. The airy warehouse space is loud and usually packed with folks waiting in line to order from the counter and await tableside delivery of Vik's savory, spicy food. Chaat are the Indian version of small plates, but at Vik's the portions are ample, and no single item costs more than $7; on weekends the menu doubles and includes vegetarian and meat specials. Favorites include earthy pakoras, dosa masala or the cinnamon-scented chicken kathi kabab wrapped in a soft paratha (flat bread). Grab a chai or mango lassi to top off the meal and be sure to check out the bakery case of traditional Indian sweets. Serves lunch and dinner Tue. – Sun.
