Cal students, budgetmeisters, and vegetarians know and love this well-worn place, where vegetarian-style Chinese cuisine will have the most discerning carnivore fooled. Only a few blocks from the UC Berkeley campus, Long Life Vegi House feels decades old, plus it’s cheap, cheap, cheap, and pretty good. The orange “chicken” is much adored, and the faux duck on the menu is a fairly unusual offering. Sure to please are the string bean and eggplant dishes. The seafood here is the real deal, so vegetarians be warned. That said, our scallops didn’t disappoint. It’s certainly nice to be able to satisfy the vegetarian and omnivore camps at once.
