Have breakfast all day long, or, heck, have a tuna or BLT sandwich for breakfast, at this unassuming Montclair neighborhood landmark that has been slinging corned beef hash, scrambling eggs, brewing coffee, sweetening waffles and French toast, and grilling grilled-cheese sammies since 1974. The congruence of the storybook outside with an interior sporting a swooping staircase, red-bricked walls, and white-tiled square-topped tables seems a little off, but not to worry. The food balances out nicely, in a familiar throwback way. From eggs topped with pico de gallo and Belgian waffles dwarfed by whipped cream to crepes oozing goat cheese and a chicken salad with cashew crunch and citrus zing, the Egg Shop knows a thing or two about satisfying the masses. And who doesn’t love looking at the model trains overhead in a place that makes brown bear pancakes and French toast fingers for kids? Serves breakfast and lunch daily.
