Fans of poke and musubi, two ubiquitous Hawaiian mainstays, can pop into this shiny Park Street newbie for a taste of these aloha-state staples. Poke, or raw fish salad, is typically an appetizer, but these build-your-own bowls are entrée size. Customers follow six easy steps, reading the overhead menu from right to left as they select size (regular or large), base (rice, salad, or crab chips), proteins (from ahi tuna to scallops), mild or spicy flavors, toppings (such as crab as avocado, jalapenos, wasabi, and green onions, among others), and sauces (five in all, with spicy aioli leading the pack). Then grab soy sauce and Sriracha, chopsticks and spoons, and shovel away. What’s musubi? A big hunk of grilled Spam plopped atop rice and held together with nori for snacking or lunching, and Poke Koma offers one that ads egg and/or bacon. Hawaiian Shaved Ice—maybe Tiger’s Blood or Blue Hawaii—and varying teas to tamp down the heat quotient. Serves lunch and dinner daily.
