If you haven’t been to Yoshi’s lately, go. Check the calendar first to find a show at the world-class adjoining jazz club that you’re interested in, buy your ticket, and then make a dinner reservation. At the restaurant, you’re treated like royalty and in and out in time to see the performance with your seats reserved for the show. Yoshi’s is a solid performer in the Japanese realms of sushi, nigiri, and sashimi, thanks to fish that is dependably fresh and high quality. But if that’s not your thing, not to worry. Fusion twists make the starters, salads, tempura, cooked fish, pork, chicken, beef, and duck worth exploring. Maybe you, too, will fall in love with the kale and baby romaine “miso Caesar” salad, swoon over the unbelievably airy tiger shrimp tempura smeared with biting chili aioli, or be attracted to the aromatic cedar planked grilled Scottish salmon. No? Honey-ginger marinated pork chop? Duck confit? Order a little sake, maybe a glass of wine or a cocktail, and settle in for a comfortable and memorable meal—the perfect date night. Serves dinner daily.
