Lighthouse Community Charter School Gala 2009

Black & White & Light All Over was this year’s theme for the third Annual Lighthouse Community Charter School Gala. The event, which took place Oct. 10 at the Rotunda Building, drew more than 275 guests. The evening included live and silent auctions, dinner and dancing to Pure Ecstacy. Legal Assistance for Seniors

Legal Assistance for Seniors held its annual fund-raising event, Serving Seniors Never Gets Old, on Oct. 23 at the Silver Dragon Restaurant in Oakland. More than 275 guests attended the event, which included a luncheon and raffle. Belva Davis of KQED served as master of ceremonies for a program that honored Priscilla Camp with a lifetime achievement award. Legal Assistance for Seniors offers free legal assistance to low-income Alameda County seniors, and proceeds from this event will go towards the organization’s community education and outreach program. lashicap.org

David Brower Center - Big Splash

The David Brower Center in Berkeley was the perfect venue for the 20th anniversary Big Splash! Sea Turtle Restoration Project party on Oct. 23. Environmentalists, activists and supporters donned their party attire for the fund-raiser. They bid on a wealth of silent auction items, schmoozed to the mellow music The Pocket Trio and danced to the beat of Blue Turtle Seduction. EBAC 10th Annual Masquerade Ball

It was a night of mystery and intrigue as masked guests experienced A Night in Venice at the East Bay Agency for Children’s 10th Annual Masquerade Ball. The fund-raiser, which took place on Oct. 24 at Moses and Susan Libitzky’s home in Piedmont, was attended by more than 250 revelers. Dinner was catered by Culinary Excellence, and guests were treated to a magic show by illusionist Patrick Martin. Music was provided by The Mood Swing Orchestra, and after dinner, guests could dance to DJ Valentino. Other activities included a raffle and silent auction, which included trips to France and Cabo. 11th Annual Sisters of Fire Awards

The Women of Color Resource Center held its11th Annual Sisters of Fire Awards at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center on Oct. 25. More than 200 guests attended the event, which included brunch by Piccadilly Catering and an awards ceremony. Entertainment was provided by the Oaktown Jazz Workshop, Aguacero and Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company. Power of Change 2009

“Find a Job. Keep a Job. Build a Career.” That was the message at Power of Change, Wardrobe for Opportunity’s fifth annual fund-raising fashion event. More than 300 guests attended the Oct. 26 event at Scott’s Restaurant in Jack London Square. Activities included wine and hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions and music by guitarist Lloyd Gregory. Guests were also treated to a fashion show starring Wardrobe for Opportunity clients as models. Willie Brown Jr. served as the guest emcee for the event. wardrobe.org
