Alta Bates Summit Foundation Fund-Raiser
More than 40 East Bay restaurants and wineries were on hand for the crowd that filled the Berkeley City Club to the rafters on April 9 for the Alta Bates Summit Foundation fund-raiser, Taste of the East Bay, for Thunder Road and the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center. Guests could enjoy live music and a silent auction as they raised money for substance abuse treatment for teens and for breast cancer programs. www.absfdn.org
Culinary Stars of the East Bay
More than 600 people showed support for the Lincoln Child Center on April 14 at Chabot & Science Center. The children-and-families services agency throws an annual extravanganza, Culinary Stars of the East Bay, to benefit the nonprofit, and this year marked the 21st annual event. This year’s event attracted 40 food and beverage venders who plied visitors and supporters with savory and sweet treats as well as wine and beer samplings. www.culinarystars.org, www.lincolnchildcenter.org
FACE Gala
FACE, or Family Aid – Catholic Education, held its 33rd annual gala auction at the Blackhawk Museum on April 2. The event, which was attended by more than 450 guests, included both silent and live auctions as well as two raffles. Dinner was provided by Scott’s Seafood and entertainment was provided by the Bishop O’Dowd High School String Quartet, the Golden Gate Boys Choir and Bell Ringers. Proceeds from the event will help provide tuition assistance for K-12 students in Catholic schools throughout the Diocese. www.faceofoakland.org

Piedmont author Kelly Corrigan hosted Notes & Words, an evening of live music and spoken word as well as the second annual benefit for Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland, on April 1.
