Oakland celebrated its independent spirit May 2 in the Historic Sweets Ballroom at the second annual Indie Awards sponsored by OneCalifornia Foundation, an organization promoting Oakland-based businesses and artists. With live music provided by the BCO Band, and food and drinks served up by East Bay purveyors, more than 400 guests took the opportunity to meet other like-minded Oaklanders who love to keep it local. www.onecalfoundation.org.
