Upcoming episodes will feature participants enjoying Peet’s Big Bang blend.

Berkeley-founded, Emeryville-based Peet’s Coffee announced this week that it will serve as the official coffee partner of HGTV’s rebooted new Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series.

Premiering this month, the show is hosted by award-winning actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson with the help of designers Breegan Jane, Carrie Locklyn, and Darren Keefe — along with thousands of volunteers whom viewers will see helping the team overhaul homes for ten different families.

Viewers will also see footage of Peet’s Coffee actually being served on episides set to air on April 5, March 15, and next Sunday, March 1.

Peet’s will be serving coffee to EM:HE volunteers and will also be stocking several of the kitchens of those overhauled homes with its signature Big Bang blend, which features fruity Ethiopian and bright Latin American beans.

“Peet’s Coffee is proud to partner with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to change the lives of deserving families,” said Peet’s senior director of marketing Gretchen Koch.

“Uplifting our local communities is at the core of Peet’s and we enjoyed working alongside the community, volunteers and the full Extreme Makeover: Home Edition production team to upgrade the homes of these inspirational people.”

The March 1 episode will focus on high-school teacher Jeff Holtzclaw, who aims to help troubled teens despite having suffered a serious personal injury.

“It was great having Peet’s Coffee on-site to fuel the volunteers who were landscaping and building the new homes, especially on ”move-in’ days, which run about 24 hours straight,” said EM:HE co-executive producer Mickey Laughlin.

“The production team and camera crew were also grateful,” Laughlin said.
