Richmond's Lotus Foods Launches New Soup Cups

They come in three different flavors.

Richmond-based Lotus Foods, renowned for innovative practices in the sustainable, fair, and direct sourcing of heirloom and organic rice from family farmers worldwide, has just launched a new line of Rice Ramen Noodle Soup Cups.

Made with organic brown-rice noodles, priced at $2.49 each in retail stores, and ready to eat in just three minutes, the new cups come in three different flavors: Red Miso (made Japanese-style with mellow red miso, chili, garlic, ginger, and wakame; Masala Curry (made Indian-style with turmeric, cumin, ginger, and cinnamon); and Tom Yum (made Thai-style with lime, lemongrass, onions, and tomatoes). 

“Having seen our existing Rice Ramen Noodles redefine the traditional ramen category, we’re thrilled to expand into instant, portable Rice Ramen Noodle Soup Cups to bring our trademark innovation to that space," Lotus Foods cofounder and co-CEO Caryl Levine said in a press release.

"It’s exciting to make a soup cup that provides a more healthful option for convenient on-the-go eating,” Levine said. 

As a certified B Corporation — a designation applied to for-profit companies that meet certain sustainability standards — 23-year-old Lotus Foods commits itself to what its founders call “Changing How Rice Is Grown around the World” by focusing on rice grown using the lower-water System of Rice Intensification (SRI).
