Roam Artisan Burgers to Open Uptown

The eco-friendly burger spot will open by the end of 2017.

Roam Artisan Burgers will open a new location in Uptown Oakland by the end of this year.

Serving sustainably sourced burgers, sides, sodas, and shakes, it will join existing locations in Lafayette and San Francisco, and another forthcoming location in San Mateo.

Like those other locations, the Oakland spot will feature power-conscious LED lightning, environmentally sound fixtures and equipment, and reclaimed wood. Among other eco-sensitive efforts, its fry oil will be transformed into bio-fuel.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Roam Artisan Burgers co-founder Joshua Spiegelman. 

“For more than seven years, Roam has provided a casual, fun place where guests can enjoy a quick, affordable meal, solo or with family and friends, and we look forward to continuing that tradition at our new locations.”

Roam's customers can choose burgers made from pasture-raised, grass-fed beef; free-range turkey; bison; or a blend of quinoa, black beans, and beets. Patties can be served in lettuce wraps, whole-grain buns, or gluten-free buns, or can top salads and seasonal vegetable dishes.

Roam's shakes are made with Straus Family Creamery products. (Roam has also used empty SFC bottles to make chandeliers.)

“In addition to offering a great dining experience to our guests, we remain committed to our focus on health, nutrition, and sustainability,” added co-founder Lynn Gorfinkle. 

“Each new Roam represents an opportunity to share our message about the importance of healthy eating and our ‘pasture-to-plate’ philosophy," Gorfinkle said.
