Rockridge's Duchess Now Has a Bar-Within-a-Bar

Bar-within-a-bar offers cocktails made with house-made tinctures and syrups ... and Jell-O and Popsicles.

Duchess -- which opened in Oakland's Rockridge District last December -- has just launched an upstairs bar, The Loft.

Designed by award-winning VerSacrum Design, whose workshop is in West Oakland, this bar-within-a-bar finds bar manager Luis Ramos (formerly of Bourbon & Branch) spotlighting a variety of punches and alt-cocktail adventures entailing house-made tinctures, solutions, and sodas ... plus Jell-O and Popsicles.

Customers can now consider Mezcal Negroni Jell-O, Daiquiri Ice Pops, and the Turmeric Gin Gimlet.

They can also ponder the Pina Movida (comprising Plantation 3 Star rum, coconut water, pineapple syrup, citric acid, and sea salt), the Garden Warfare (comprising mezcal, gin, strawberry/tomato syrup, lemon juice, chili piquin/pink peppercorn, and salt), and the Where Are We? (depicted above, and comprising Bourbon Spirit Works sloe gin, sweet vermouth, Senses Chardonnay, and walnut tincture). 

An upstairs-only bar menu has been designed for perfect popsicular pairings.
