East Bay chefs are among those set to shine at this year's Eat Drink SF festival, set for Saturday, August 24 at The Midway in San Francisco.
Launched by the Golden Gate Restaurant Association ten years ago — and initially called SF Chefs — the annual affair celebrates the Bay Area culinary community at its sea-salted, slow-roasted, matcha-tastic, cold-brewed best.
Showcasing cutting-edge trends and local classics, over 150 bars and restaurants will share their fare with festival-goers during two separate grand tastings — one starting at 12:45 p.m. and the other at 7:45 p.m. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit CUESA and the Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship Foundation. VIP ticketholders will have access to the festival 45 minutes before its official opening time.
Tickets can be purchased here.
East Bay influencers who participated in last year's Eat Drink SF include Joseph Hattendorf, executive chef at Berkeley's Limewood Bar and Restaurant; José Ponce, executive chef at Trader Vic's in Emeryville; Emily Sarlatte and Sergio Monleón, owner-chefs at Berkeley's La Marcha. Also participating last year was Arun Gupta, executive chef at DOSA, which has locations in both San Francisco and Oakland; and East Bay native and international pizza-making champion Tony Gemignani, owner of Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco.
Inside The Midway will be a main tasting room with an array of bars and restaurants that changes during the day. Outside will be an outdoor backyard barbecue and pizza patio activations. Other special features and activies are in the works.
