CWS is committed to providing our customers with exceptional service, protecting the environment, caring for our employees in the best way possible and keeping our facilities in peak operating condition.
CWS has collected and processed recyclable material for the City of Oakland since 1993. Approximately 70,000 households and businesses serviced through this partnership, along with our commercial business, contributed to more than 65,000 tons of waste diverted from landfills in 2007. An affordable small business program encourages more participation to help Oakland achieve Zero Waste.
Our two Oakland recycling facilities are strategically located near the Port of Oakland, reducing our environmental footprint from hauling, lowering our operating costs and allowing these benefits to be passed on to our customers.
CWS develops efficient, cost effective, and well-organized programs. In 2008, CWS initiated its own “CWS Certification” program that offers commercial customers an opportunity to expand and publicize their commitment to the environmental health, economic development and beautification of the city of Oakland. Partnerships with local entities such as Mills College, Service West and Eastmont Town Center have resulted in recycling achievement awards.
