Another Place
Oh, my goodness. I cannot tell you how proud I was to open the November 2005 issue of Oakland Magazine. Vera H-C Chan’s article (“10 Years of Home Alone”) on the East Oakland Youth Development Center cooking class program was terrific. The quality of the photograph (thanks, Lori A. Cheung) and the historical context of the program were phenomenal. Vera took me down memory lane (10 years-long) in just a couple of minutes. She is an exceptional writer and a wonder to work with.
I love Oakland Magazine and await its arrival each issue. I have gotten my kitchen remodeling ideas and so much more information from the eclectric pages of your content, but you took me to another place when you focused on my “true baby,” this wonderful nonprofit center. I thank you so much, my kids, my staff,my board. We are all so grateful.
