Loosely translated, fonda solana means “cafe on a sunny corner,” and there really isn’t a better description of this Solano hotspot, unless you add the word “delicious.” On our visit, satisfied guests were on the corner spreading the word and encouraging us to give the place a try, always a good sign. We grabbed a table in the beautiful brick-red restaurant and started off with the amazing chips and salsa and a few margaritas, quickly followed by a succession of Latin American–style small plates created by chef August Churchill: sautéed prawns with salsa negra, garlic and lime; duck and pomegranate tacos with guacamole and arbol salsa; and grilled pork with white beans and Spanish chorizo. Sample wines from the extensive list, and top off your meal with one of the tempting desserts, and it’s impossible to go wrong here. Lunch and dinner daily and happy hour after 9 p.m. (Reservations 6 or more only)
