Owner Paul Wong became a Bay Area celebrity when he spearheaded the “We Believe” campaign during the Golden State Warriors’ surprising 2007 playoff drive. But the big draw at this neat, personalized storefront franchise remains the sizzling lunch plates of thin-sliced marinated meats (teriyaki steak, short ribs, chicken), Portuguese sausage, hamburger patties with eggs and gravy, and deep-fried shrimp and mahi mahi. Snack on spam or crunchy chicken katsu, and for something really different try the Lau Lau—chunks of pork in a steaming mass of spinach dotted with butterfish, all wrapped in taro leaves. Lunch and dinner daily.
