Making 911 Work for You
The Alameda County Emergency Medical Services is a division of the county’s Public Health Department. The primary purpose of Alameda County EMS is to provide oversight and administration of the medical 911 response throughout the county. We coordinate the role of all components of the medical 911 system, including:
• medical dispatch centers
• first response by fire EMTs and paramedics
• paramedic ambulance providers
• 911 receiving hospitals
• trauma and other specialty centers
We also ensure the quality of the 911 response through policy development, contract monitoring, data analysis, research and education.
Other services we provide include:
• approval of EMS training programs
• certification of EMS personnel
• injury prevention programs for children and seniors
• coordination of medical resources during disasters
• CPR training in the schools
