Food Bank Event
The Alameda Community Food Bank hosted the popular Empty Bowls fundraising and awareness event at its new facility June 5. Guests nourished themselves on a simple meal of bread and soup served in one of 300 colorful bowls painted by students at Redwood Day School. The empty bowls serve as a reminder that hunger is a prevalent worldwide and local community issue. Guests kept the bowls and left donations exceeding $27,000 for the food bank to help in its mission to fill the empty bowls of more than 40,000 hungry county residents every week. www.accfb.org.
