A Valuable Lesson

Today the Oakland Unified School District hopes to teach the governor a valuable lesson. In a press release issued today, the OUSD announced plans to hold rally today at 4 p.m. at the Paul Robeson Administration Building, 1025 Second Ave. The OUSD wants the governor to get the message that budget cuts are one of the biggest threats to California Schools. At the rally, demonstrators hope to present real solutions, help local residents apply internal pressure on legislators and operate action stations that will help participants express their opposition to cuts through e-mail, mail and phone calls.

I'm all for exercising fundamental constitutional rights, especially when something as important as education is concerned, but does anything constructive ever come from protest and rallies?
